Surprised by timing of #cfc stadium announcement, but not the fact they appear to be pulling the plug. Have reported on numerous delays and escalating costs over the last two years and been repeatedly told that the project didn't make economic sense.

Roman Abramovich has personally taken the decision to put #Cfc stadium on hold after being denied a UK Visa. Unwilling to invest over £1billion into a country where he is not permitted to work.

Re #cfc stadium - could be a powerplay by Abramovich to exert pressure on Home Office or may be genuinely walking away. Have always been sceptical as to whether he'd fund stadium himself as the economic case (huge cost v limited increase in revenue) didn't stack up.
